Group Tour of the Victims of Communism Museum
Thursday, November 6, 2025, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
This is an encore opportunity to tour the Victims of Communism Museum on McPherson Square. An earlier Encore tour this summer quickly filled the roster of 25. The VOC Museum opened in 2022 as “the first museum in the world dedicated to describing both the history of communism as well as its current global reach across Europe, Asia, and South America.” It offers a stark reminder of the mind-numbing human costs that communism inflicted in the 20th century and documents its continuing depredations around the world today. More than 1.5 billion people still live and labor under communist governments that are actively hostile to democracy as well as human and civil rights.
You be the judge. After a 5-minute introduction, explore three galleries documenting the history of communism – how and where it began, how it operates, and how people living under it have resisted for over a century. Watch films and participate in interactive exhibits that bring to life the stories of both victims and survivors. Hear a Lithuanian Witness Story and Q&A Session with Milda Mataciunaite, Director of Fellowships and Coalitions. Following a group photo and departure, participants are invited to join a pay-your-own lunch at a nearby restaurant.
