History on Display: Tour of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Museum

Tuesday, March 31, 2026, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

The primary focus of the DAR is the history of the Revolutionary War. Members are descendants of Revolutionary War patriots like those highlighted in the recent Ken Burns documentary, “The American Revolution”.

This is a two-part tour: guided tour of newly refurbished period rooms (1690’s-1930’s) followed by a self-guided tour of the museum.  The DAR focuses on decorative arts in the American home, featuring objects made and used from the 17th century to the early 20th century.  It features 31 period rooms with over 20,000 objects including furniture, silver, textiles and ceramics.  A new temporary exhibit, titled “Revolution in Their Words” Penning Independence” will debut on March 27 so we will be among the first to see it in the museum.
