Each semester we promote our course catalog in multiple ways such as: printed fliers, emails, social media postings, and videos.  The course preview video is an opportunity for instructors to introduce their class to Encore Learning members and prospective members.  The purpose of the video is to provide students an overview of the course topic, the general structure of the course, and a little biographical information about the instructor.

The course preview videos are used to generate interest in your course via our website, YouTube Channel, and Facebook pages.  Most importantly, we host a virtual event The Course Preview Day where we officially present Encore Learning's course catalog to members using the preview videos.

Instructors prepare remarks for a video up-to 3-minutes.  Videos can be recorded in one of two ways, the first can be recorded on your own using our tips and guidance and the second method is to schedule a virtual recording session with a staff member to record your video.

Need a little inspiration on what to include in your course preview video?  Remember, the video is all about generate student interest and enroll in your class based on how you describe what they'll be learning.  So, don't worry if you do not have your script put together just yet, we have some tips and examples of some standout preview videos instructors have done in the past.

• Keep your video to 2-3 minutes
• Write out your remarks ahead of time. Your remarks should introduce you as
  the instructor, define the format of the course, overview the course content,
  and identify who might be most interested in your course.
• Always refer to us a “Encore Learning” and not just “Encore”
• No need to include details that appear in your course catalog info, or info about
  dates and times and locations. This is your opportunity to expand more into the
  class and entice registrants!
• We will not be featuring any slides or visuals in any preview videos.
• Practice giving your remarks as you have written them.

If you are going to record your own video, we recommend and prefer you to use Zoom to record your video.  It's easy to use!

All self-recorded videos are due by August 1, 2025.  This date ensures our team enough time to edit and prepare all videos for their debut.

Submitting your video

• Some videos may be too large to send via email.  Therefore, instructors are asked to share their video using Google Drive, DropBox, or OneDrive.  Google Drive is Encore Learning's preferred platform.  Videos can be saved as .mp4 or other video formats.
• Share your video with courses@encorelearning.net (make sure to allow download privileges)

How to record using Zoom

If you are new to using Zoom technology watch the video below to learn how you can record yourself on your computer.

• If you choose to record your video with a staff host, you will meet via Zoom to record.
• Recording sessions are scheduled in 30-minute time blocks to provide sufficient time to record the best take.
• Instructors are responsible for selecting an available time via the SurveyMonkey link and have their remarks prepared before their recording session.
• A booking confirmation email will be sent to you.
• Make sure you have the latest version of Zoom installed on your computer.

To ensure we have all videos ready for their debut, all instructors are asked to adhere to the following deadlines:

• June 9, 2025
  • Submit Scheduling Survey to indicate if you are self-recording or providing your availability for a recording session.
• August 1, 2025
  • Submit self-recorded video or have recording session completed.

All videos will be presented during a virtual preview event on the morning of Thursday, September 4, 2025 and posted on YouTube shortly after.
