Victims of Communism Museum In-Person Tour
Wednesday, July 23, 2025, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
After bidding good riddance to the Cold War 35 years ago, many discarded fears of global communism posing an existential challenge to American liberties. The Victims of Communism Museum offers a stark reminder of the mind-numbing human costs that communism inflicted in the 20th century and documents its continuing depredations around the world today. It estimates that more than 1.5 billion people still live and labor under communist governments that are actively hostile to democracy as well as human and civil rights.
The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation was authorized by unanimous Act of Congress and opened in 2022. It is recognized as “the first museum in the world dedicated to describing both the history of communism as well as its current global reach across Europe, Asia, and South America.”
After a 5-minute introduction, we will explore three galleries documenting the history of communism – how and where it began, how it operates, and how people living under it have resisted for over a century. We will then attend a 40-minute Lithuanian Witness Story and Q&A Session with Milda Mataciunaite, Director of Fellowships and Coalitions – offered specially for our visit.
You are also invited to join us for a pay-your-own lunch at a nearby restaurant.
